![]() The best advice will always be "know before you buy". This is particularly true at the low end of the spectrum. Before I get flamed, let me say that not every prop looks like it was made with care and good intentions. ![]() However, remember, with most of the props we buy, some one thought it was a good trick and used it somewhere. Of course if you can afford it, go with the best you can get. It will hopefully hold up till I can by one of the better ones. I would NEVER try to make it stand on it's own as a "production". But when doing kids shows in small venues (backyards, family rooms, etc.) it packs small and gives me a very good total routine. Granted, it is in NO WAY comparable to either of the above mentioned products. I make sure to take care of the prop so it looks as good as it possibly can. By the time I "produce the bush" as the kids call it, they are so involved in a very small flower that the botania looks HUGE by comparison. After I repeatedly fail I remember " the famous magic disappearing tube" (pat pending). I start w/ trying to make a flower disappear. It sells for a small fraction of the price of an Abbott's or one by Richard Hughes. It is worth what you pay for it, like so many other things. I am one of those guys using one of the cheap ones. Divide the $150 by 40 years and most of use spend more than that on balloons in a year. He used it until I built a replacement botania after 40 years. For instance, Ormond McGill bought a botania from Horace Marshall in 1954 for $150 (that was a lot of money then). If you don't you will waste the money on the cheap product and by the time you are ready to buy the original better product, it will have gone up even more in price.Īlso think of the better props as an investment. The mod focuses on automation, but without elements that make. ![]() Botania is fully playable as a standalone mod (and is designed as such), but it functions just well in conjunction with other mods. ![]() Gameplay is centered around creating magical flowers and devices using Mana, the power of the earth. Now on the flip side.save for what you really want (after you have done some research). Botania is a tech mod themed around natural magic. What he got was the size of the smallest plastic ball vase you ever saw with little dried flowers in it. In the catalog it was a "marvelous flower growth." Thinking he was getting something like Horace Marshall made for only $5, he ordered it. I remember Gene Gordon showing me the first trick he ever bought. The cone is then lifted from the ground and instantly and visually, a magnificent 25 bloom. Placing the cone on the floor, and takes a single flower and tosses it into the cone. The magician shows an elegant cone to be absolutely empty. We have all been burnt by things that sounded really great. Produced and Designed by Tora Magic Company. It is a magic mod commonly described as Magitek despite its core focus: magic from flowers, sometimes known as botanurgy or botanism. I would suggest using it as a gag prop and then when you get a "good" botania, you could give the plant some "miracle exlir" and make a great bush. Welcome aboard! We are glad to have you with us on The Magic Café. We know that you are in very good company. You will find your fellow magicians on the Café a valuable resource. If you will use the search here on The Magic Café, you will find at least one manufacturer of very nice feather products including the better Botania. Your best alternative may be to resell it on eBay. However, they also produce some very fine magicians. For years I owned a store chain and we enjoyed importing from India. Each piece is made one at a time from memory. Anything with paint, interchangable parts, or iron or steel parts exceeds their capacity to compete. They do make very nice wood carvings, brass and inexpensive jewelry. The flowers fall apart, the paint falls off, springs break and metal parts rust. Unfortunately, my experience with magic props from there is that they don't belong on that list. There are things from India that are well worth the money. One of the "magic questions" to ask when you can't touch and handle the prop first is "who made it?" My guess is that the one you have is made in India. But most of us have been there on some piece of equipment at some time. The bee will be able to produce Mystical Petals corresponding to nearby mystical flower's color. We are sorry about your disappointment in you Botania. When Botania mod integration is enabled, flower type is changed to "Mystical" which are Botania's colored mystical flowers."Other Hive" this time doesn't include the other Hive Bees added by Magic Bees. These bees have a little extra whimsy about them.
